Wilda is Poznań's rising neighbourhood, a former working-class quarter that has been rediscovering itself over the past decade without losing its authentic edge. Red-brick tenements stand next to renovated courtyards, independent cafés have opened on side streets, and the Warta riverbank is just minutes away for morning runs or evening walks. There is an unpretentious, genuine quality to Wilda that students who are tired of polished city-centre living tend to appreciate immediately.
AWF, the Poznań University of Physical Education, has its main campus right in the neighbourhood on Królowej Jadwigi, which makes Wilda a natural home for sport and physical education students. The area is also attracting a younger creative crowd, so the social scene is quietly growing alongside the rent prices, which are still among the more accessible in the inner city.

The AWF campus on Królowej Jadwigi is walkable from much of Wilda. Tram lines crossing the district link you to the city centre and to Łazarz in just a few stops, and the bridge over the Warta connects you to the wider network with no need to go through the city core.
An ordinary week in Wilda
Wilda has been quietly turning into one of the more interesting parts of Poznań. Old tenements that are being renovated one by one, a proper market hall, small bars opening in former workshops, and the river as the district's back garden.
The sports university sits here, so the streets are full of people going somewhere on foot or on a bike at hours when other districts are still asleep. In summer everything moves to the Warta embankment — that is where the district eats, drinks and sits until it gets dark.
Daily life is straightforward and cheap to run: the market for food, small shops on the corners, everything walkable. It has the feel Jeżyce had a few years ago, before everyone found out about it.
Who Wilda is not for
It is still a district in the middle of changing, and that shows: some streets are renovated, the next one is not, and building work is a normal part of the soundtrack. If you want everything finished and predictable, look at Grunwald instead.
