Jeżyce

Looking for a place in Jeżyce? Here is what the area is like, which universities are nearby, and where to browse published room and flat listings.

Jeżyce is the neighbourhood Poznań residents tend to fall in love with first. It has the energy of a creative quarter without trying too hard: ornate tenement houses line streets full of specialty coffee shops, vinyl record stores, small galleries and cosy restaurants where the menus change with the season. The local market square, Rynek Jeżycki, is alive every morning with traders selling vegetables, flowers and cheese, giving the area a village-within-a-city quality that is rare this close to a major university.

This is an ideal base if you are studying at UAM's Ogrody campus on Szamarzewskiego or at the Poznań University of Life Sciences in Sołacz, both comfortably reachable by tram or on foot. Jeżyce attracts students, artists and young professionals who want character, walkability and a neighbourhood identity stronger than just being close to campus.

Getting around

The UAM Ogrody campus on Szamarzewskiego is within easy reach by tram or a relaxed walk from most of Jeżyce. Tram lines running along the main arteries connect you to the city centre in just a few stops, and Rynek Jeżycki itself is a practical transfer point for the wider network.

Living here

An ordinary week in Jeżyce

The rhythm here is set by Rynek Jeżycki: fruit and vegetables, flowers and cheese, open daily and cheaper than the supermarket if you go before noon. Around it, ul. Dąbrowskiego runs the length of the district with everything practical on it — pharmacy, laundry, phone repair, a gym, and the tram.

Evenings are the reason people move here. Specialty coffee, small bars, a vinyl shop, galleries in old shopfronts. It is busy without being a nightlife district, so you can find a table on a Friday and still sleep on a Tuesday.

Park Sołacki is a fifteen-minute walk north and is where the district runs, walks dogs and sits by the water in summer. On Sunday the small shops close, the market winds down early, and the cafes stay open.

Who Jeżyce is not for

If you need silence, this is not your district: tenement walls are thin, the streets are alive until late, and renovation work is constant somewhere. If you drive, parking is genuinely difficult and will stay that way. And if you study at UAM Morasko, look at Winogrady instead — the PST will save you an hour a day.

Common questions

Is Jeżyce safe in the evening?

Yes. It is a busy residential district with people on the streets late; the usual big-city common sense is enough.

Can I live in Jeżyce without a car?

Easily, and most of our tenants do. Trams, a walkable high street and two campuses within reach. Parking, on the other hand, is genuinely difficult here.

How far is UAM Morasko from Jeżyce?

About 45 minutes by public transport, usually with a change — doable, but Winogrady suits Morasko better if that is your campus.

Are the flats in Jeżyce renovated?

The buildings are old, the interiors are not. Standards differ from flat to flat, so each listing carries its own photos and its own floor plan rather than a shot of the building.

How much does a room in Jeżyce cost?

Rooms we currently have published in Jeżyce range from 999 zł–1449 zł per month (3 offers right now). On most room offers that is a single fixed amount with electricity, water and gas included; where bills are metered instead, the listing says so. The deposit and any one-time commission are stated separately on each listing.

How long is the commute from Jeżyce to campus?

From the addresses we currently rent in Jeżyce, the closest is Poznań University of Medical Sciences — typically about 12 minutes by public transport. On foot it is about 16 minutes. Times are computed per address, and each listing page shows the journey to every Poznań campus, not just the nearest one.
